For over 20 years Kerr Street Day Camp (KSDC) has been helping Oakville families and inspiring their children to be all that they can be. Each summer KSM works with college and high school staff to create inspiring summer memories that will last a lifetime.

KSM seeks individuals that demonstrate the following characteristics:

The following positions are being offered as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program and is currently pending funding. To be eligible, students must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

We seek individuals who are interested in building relationships and who are able to collaboratively create, plan, and lead high quality programming for a diverse group of community members.

The following are position highlights and include (but are not limited to) a summary of positions. All staff work together as a team to support one another to achieve overall camp and program goals, and also to:

  • Promote and build awareness of Kerr Street Mission and its programs. 
  • Ensure the highest quality program for our community: set outcomes, maintain compliance and quality.  
  • Actively participate in developing, evaluating, and monitoring programs. 
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all our clients, and their information.  
  • Operate within the culture, philosophy and values of Kerr Street Mission.

The wage range for our summer positions will be between $17.20 – $18.45 per hour.

Day Camp Leader

The Day Camp Leader positions oversee the planning and execution of high-quality day camp activities appropriate for children and youth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create and deliver a fun program to children and youth.
  • Responsible for all scheduling of camper’s activities within each age group.
  • Ensure daily activities are well run and staff are engaged with the campers
  • Supervise and evaluate all facets of camp program activities.
  • Must be present in their programming and provide feedback to staff ensuring a smooth operation.
  • Meet with staff on a ongoing basis to review programming and schedules for the following days/weeks.
  • Model appropriate behaviour in all interactions with co-workers, staff, clients and the public.
  • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.
  • Ensure activity areas are cleaned on a consistent basis.

Must be available to work from June 2 – August 22, 2025

Administrative Assistant​

The Administrative Assistant position oversees all the camps administrative concerns, the registration and attendance of campers, communications, invoice payments and tracking and the coordination and booking of special event and field trips. This position does not involve working with children or youth within day camp programming or activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the registration of all Day Camp participants.
  • Create and distribute invoices and accurately, record all payments received for registrations, and follow-up on outstanding balances and invoices.
  • Camp communication to parents, summer staff and organizational staff.
  • Provide staff with daily, weekly camp attendances and group lists.
  • Responsible for daily camp sign in and sign out procedures.
  • Assist in group field trip bookings, including organizing transportation.
  • Report to third parties if necessary.
  • Assist in camp related operations.
  • Submit all paperwork and invoices in a timely manner.
  • Model appropriate behaviour in all interactions with co-workers, staff and the public.

Must be available to work from May 5 – August 22, 2025

Day Camp Counsellor

The Day Camp counsellors work to deliver high quality developmental and recreational summer day camp programming for children and youth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct supervision to a group of children everyday.
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality recreational and developmental day camp programs.
  • Fully and enthusiastically participate in all camp activities, including all programs, trips and special events.
  • Build rapport and manage group behaviour to ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment for children and youth.
  • Recognizes the uniqueness and interests of all children and youth and assists them to successfully achieve their goals at camp.
  • Model appropriate behaviour in all interactions with co-workers, staff, clients and the public.
